Sophia Riordan is a multimedia artist working with sculpture, installation, and performance. Drawing from the complex relationships between humans and nature, her work contemplates networks of connection largely inspired by nature. String, thread, or yarn become the connection medium across medias, creating webs, both conceptually and physically. Manipulating various materials and experimenting with tension and connections, the various stages of her making process prompt reflection to the intangible and tangible structures that compose our worlds. Central to her practice are the themes of connecting with and learning from the natural world — her work explores the intricacies of human and non-human relationships.
